Lower body lift surgery usually requires at least a night's stay in the hospital and is performed under a general anesthetic. Depending on the areas being treated the surgery generally takes four and a half hours to five and a half hours to perform. Incision length and pattern varies based on the amount and location of excess skin and patient and surgeon preference.
A complete lower body lift addresses the areas of the buttocks, abdomen, waist, hips and thighs in one surgery. An incision spanning circumferentially around the body removes an apron of excess skin and fat and tightens and repositions tissues. In some cases, liposuction is used during a lower body lift to achieve desired contours. The new contours are held in place with deep support sutures.
