About Labiaplasty Surgery

Labiaplasty surgery is performed as an outpatient procedure under general anesthetic. Patients are asked to shave prior to surgery. Specific planning is performed to gain the result desired by each patient, particularly with regard to the amount of residual labial tissue left.

Incisions are made to result in minimal scarring or scar contracture with the final result. Dissolvable sutures are used so that suture removal is not necessary. Minimal dressings are put in place after the surgery and ice is applied to decrease swelling after the surgery. The surgery takes approximately 1½ hours. Patients can go home approximately 1 to 2 hours after the surgery and after having received care instructions and pain medication prescriptions.
