During your facelift consult your doctor will carefully discuss your concerns and your goals with you.
To make your facelift consultation a success, plan on discussing the following information with your doctor:
- List of previous surgeries
- Your past and present medical conditions.
- Treatments you have received
- Medication(s) and nutritional supplements(s) you are taking, particularly those that affect bleeding
- Smoking history
During your visit you will discuss with your doctor the factors that may affect your facelift results such as gaining or losing a significant amount of weight. If you have realistic desires to loose more than 15 pounds in the near future, it is important to discuss this with your surgeon, as your weight loss may affect the results of your facelift.
Your doctor will assess your bone structure and the underlying tissue of the face. The thickness, texture and elasticity of your skin as well as the severity of wrinkles and folds will also be considered. Your hairline will be evaluated to determine where incisions can be discreetly placed. All of the above factors will be considered in creating your facelift surgical plan.
As part of your face lift consult the face will be evaluated and photographed for medical records. Options and a recommended course of treatment along with the outcome and risks will also be discussed. Personal desires are key in the decision making process.
